Our Creative Director's 5 Favourites from Our Early Fall Collection

As Rainsford Company's Founder and Creative Director, Andrea Doxey is constantly walking a careful, thoughtful line between timely and timeless. While she loves keeping an eye on the trends, she curates the shop (and her own home) to feel fresh yet classic, seeking out pieces with enduring style. With our Early Fall collection now live, we're highlighting Andrea's personal top five favourites, and exactly how she likes to style them at home.

ANDREA'S FALL FAVOURITES

1

Cozy Texture: Velvet Pillows

Equal parts cozy and sophisticated, velvet is a perennial favourite year-round, but its soft texture becomes especially welcome once temperatures begin to drop. The fabric's plush nap and quiet lustre displays colour like no other textile, and brings instant warmth to your pillowscape. "I find velvet pillows are the easiest way to inject fall and texture without feeling like you have to switch up your entire scheme," says Andrea. Mix a couple of solids from our Royal Velvet collection in with your patterned cotton and linen squares for a season-ready boost. "They make me want to just nestle right in."

Art Pairings: Classic & Contemporary

"Another thing I'm really loving right now is mixing traditional and contemporary artwork," says Andrea. "If you lean more traditional in your decorating style, bringing in a piece or two of modern art gives everything a little lift and keep things from getting too stuffy or fussy." A current favourite combo: classic botanical or wildlife print paired with simplistic line drawings or loose, airy pencil sketch. "The juxtaposition of old and new just feels right."

Comforting Essential: Soft Throws

As fall accessories go, throw blankets are a no-brainer — and as the weather cools they become one of those items Andrea wishes she had in every room of the house: one spread over the foot of the bed, another tossed across a sofa, and one more slung over the back of your desk chair. "Our new lambswool throws are a really nice transitional weight that you can use all year round," says Andrea. Pick a rich hue to add an easy-to-swap pop of colour to your decor, or opt for neutral tone for a blanket you can carry with you from room to room.

Material Mixing: Table Lamps

"Just like with art, I Iike mixing multiple styles of lighting in the same space," says Andrea. While lighting of all kinds is important, table lamps in particular are key to setting the mood in a room. In her own living room, Andrea has paired up the Abby Table Lamp with the Maddie Dublet Lamp. "I love how the contrasting materials balance each other out — the woven rattan of the Abby lamp tempers the sleekness of the marble base and brass details of the Maddie Lamp, warming up the look, while those same features on the Maddie pull Abby away from looking too 'beach house'."

Live Forever: Everlasting Greenery

"Greenery instantly adds so much life to a room — for me, it's an essential no matter your decor style," says Andrea. "Hydrangeas and seeded eucalyptus are what I reach for most often when putting together a fresh cut arrangement — but into the fall I don't get to my corner florist as often." Her zero-maintanance substitute: "Faux plants have come a long way, and if you choose your variety carefully, it can be hard to tell the difference between real and not." Feathery ferns and wispy plants like lavender and ornamental grasses are most convincing, along with our newest shop addition: a 30"-tall boxwood topiary that's the textbook definition of whimsical.
