Grey Heron 1778

This watercolour and pen drawing of a grey heron was made by Robert Jacob Gordon on his 1778 exploration of South Africa. Through the discovery of his journals, we see the breathtaking detail of each bird reflected through the eyes of a true explorer with a love of nature. This stunning art print captures the delicate balance of green, blue, off-white and brown used by Gordon, perfectly reflecting the graceful nature of the Grey Heron.
